Twin Lakes EB-5 Project Opens Indoor/Outdoor Pools and Hot Tub at Completed Clubhouse

Twin Lakes Georgia is an active adult community with state-of-the-art amenities for adults over the age of 55. Nowhere is this EB-5 project’s financial success more evident than poolside at Club Cresswind, the neighborhood clubhouse.

The clubhouse at Twin Lakes, which held its grand opening March 4th 2023, features both an indoor lap pool and an outdoor resort-style pool. There is also a therapeutic hot tub spa next to the indoor pool.

Leisure time by the pool is good for seniors, whether indoors or outdoors, helping them to build community among like-minded neighbors. The indoor pool also provides great impact-free exercise in the winter, allowing retirees to swim year-round.

In this article, we explore the swimming amenities at Twin Lakes and the financial success of this rural EB-5 project.

Here’s What We’re Going to Cover:

Swimming Pools at Twin Lakes

The indoor pool at the Twin Lakes clubhouse features three lap lanes for swimming and water aerobics. The pool ranges from 3.5 feet deep to five feet deep. The area has pool noodles and free weights for water exercise classes and pool fun. There are also resort loungers and tables next to the pool for relaxation.

The indoor hot tub is right next to the indoor pool. At three feet deep, this restorative spa offers warm, bubbling waters to seniors all year long. Locker rooms for men and women are located just steps from the indoor pool, inside the swimming wing of the clubhouse.

Outside of the clubhouse, the curvilinear, resort-inspired pool overlooks the eponymous twin lakes and the waterfront bandshell. The walk-in, beach-entry side of the pool gradually descends into the water, from zero feet to 3.5 feet of depth, mimicking the grading of sand into the ocean. There is also a wide, resort-style staircase into the pool at the 3.5 foot depth.

The deep end of the resort pool is only five feet deep and is roped off from the 3.5 foot end. The outdoor pool also features a handicapped pool lift, allowing injured or less mobile seniors to enjoy a fun day in the water, as well.

The outdoor pool patio has more than 50 resort loungers, with half as many side tables between them, allowing Twin Lakes residents to kick back and soak up the hot Georgia sun. There are also six outdoor dining tables with canvas umbrellas to shield from the sun or rain.

The outdoor resort pool is open from dawn to dusk, and is already proving very popular with the nearly 600 homeowners who have purchased at Twin Lakes since its opening.

In addition to the indoor pool, outdoor pool, and spa, the Twin Lakes clubhouse is situated before two swimmable natural lakes. The lakefront dock has swim ladders for easy access as well as a kayak and canoe launch for watersports.

Swimming for Seniors

Swimming is a terrific form of exercise for seniors, as it is non-weight bearing. Seniors can exercise longer in water than on land without joint or muscle pain, despite the resistance of water being more than 40 times greater than air.

Swimming is one of the only forms of exercise that works all the muscle groups simultaneously, making it an incredibly effective method of building muscle. Muscles constrict and loosen naturally while swimming, meaning it can strengthen aging muscles and bones alike, without bearing weight or increasing effort.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), water-based exercise can help people with arthritis use their arthritic joints without worsening symptoms. This also holds true for seniors with rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis.

Swimming has been shown to decrease anxiety and depression and improve mood, even in people with fibromyalgia. Swimming can also improve or maintain bone health in post-menopausal women.

A study by the University of South Carolina found that regular swimmers had a 53 percent lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease. According to the British Journal of Sports Medicine, swimming can reduce the risk of heart disease by 41 percent.

Falling is a major public health issue in senior citizens. According to the CDC, one in three adults over the age of 65 will experience a fall every year. Falls can cause severe injuries, including broken hips and head trauma. Even minor falls can severely limit mobility.

An Australian study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that swimming is the only form of exercise that lowers the risk of falls in senior adults. In the study, men over 70 who swam regularly were 33 percent less likely to fall. Men who did other types of exercise such as walking, golf, treadmill, stationary bikes, or calisthenics were no less likely to fall.

Twin Lakes Clubhouse Amenities

The two-story Club Cresswind, as the Twin Lakes clubhouse is known, offers a host of other amenities for its retiree residents.

The lounge and billiard room features two pool tables, a kitchenette, and a two-story wood-burning fireplace. Residents can feed the fire with fresh cut wood stacked on both sides of the fireplace, in the lounge or the lobby.

The adjoining game room has a flatscreen television, cozy armchairs, a sofa, and two six-person gaming tables.

The large multipurpose room functions like a banquet hall or hotel ballroom, with curtains for subdividing the room depending on the event. The room has a large projector screen for movie nights and presentations, 4-person and 6-person dining tables, and scores of chairs. It also has a large feature kitchen, with two combination refrigerators and freezers, two ovens, and a five-burner stovetop.

Upstairs at Club Cresswind, the arts and crafts room hosts art classes, with its own cache of art supplies, cubbyhole storage for large painting canvases to dry, and even a working kiln for glazing pottery.

The SmartFit fitness center features five treadmills, four ellipticals, three stationary bikes, and weightlifting machines for the whole body. There is also a free weight area with dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, balance balls, and more.

There is a dedicated cardio studio next door, complete with ballet barre, yoga mats, yoga blocks, and other necessities for group fitness classes.

Outside the clubhouse, there are outdoor lounge areas overlooking the lake, with comfy wicker sofas and armchairs, and plenty of overhead fans to beat the Georgia heat.

The lakeside event lawn has an outdoor bandshell right on the waterfront that regularly features concerts for residents, gathering crowds of hundreds of seniors on the lawn.
