TEA designation allows an EB-5 investment of only $800,000, whereas a project not located in a TEA requires a $1.05 million investment.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wdWuxTsG7X8?rel=0;&amp;autoplay=1&amp;mute=1&amp;loop=1&amp;\" width=\"100%\" height=\"678\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>EB5AN has a <a href=\"https:\/\/eb5affiliatenetwork.com\/eb-5-tea-map\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free, comprehensive TEA map<\/a> to help you determine if your EB-5 project is located in a TEA. Simply type in the project\u2019s address and the map will tell you if the project qualifies for the lower EB-5 investment amount of $800,000.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eb5visainvestments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/FAQ-126_image-2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are two ways for an EB-5 project location to become officially designated as a TEA: (1) The project is located in an area with unemployment at least 50% higher than the national average, or (2) the project is located in a rural area.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify as a high unemployment TEA, an EB-5 project must be in an area with an unemployment rate at least 1.5 times the national average unemployment rate.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify as a rural TEA, an EB-5 project must be located outside of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/programs-surveys\/metro-micro.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">metropolitan statistical area (MSA)<\/a>, as determined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, as well as be outside any town or city of more than 20,000 residents. Population is determined by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/prod\/www\/decennial.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most recent 10-year U.S. Census<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eb5visainvestments.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/FAQ-126_image-3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>USCIS determines TEA designation as a part of each EB-5 investor\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/eb5affiliatenetwork.com\/i-526-petition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I-526E application<\/a> and during the I-956F project exemplar process for TEA projects seeking preapproval from USCIS. Each applicant or project sponsor must show sufficient third-party evidence that an EB-5 project\u2019s location qualifies as a TEA.
